Tandoori Chicken

Try out this deliciously easy chicken tandoori recipe. The combination of creamy yoghurt and aromatic spices produces a mouthwatering dish that has great taste and flavour.

Ingredients

  • 4-6 chicken pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cucumber, diced
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • Fresh coriander
  • Quarter cup Sunfoil Sunflower Oil
  • 250 ml (1 cup) plain yoghurt
  • 2 cm piece ginger, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 10 ml (2 teaspoon) lemon juice
  • 10 ml (2 teaspoon) paprika
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) turmeric
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) Garam Masala
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) ground cumin
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) chilli powder
  • Roti

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Season the chicken pieces with salt.
  2. Make the the marinade by mixing together:
  • Quarter cup Sunfoil oil
  • 250 ml (1 cup) plain yoghurt
  • 2 cm piece ginger, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 10ml (2 teaspoon) lemon juice
  • 10 ml (2 teaspoon) paprika
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) turmeric
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) Garam Masala
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) ground cumin
  • 2 ml (½ teaspoon) chilli powder
  1. Add the chicken to the  marinade for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  2. Roast the chicken for 30-45 minutes or until done.
  3. Mix together your salsa ingredients:
  • ½ cucumber, diced
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • fresh coriander
  1. Serve the chicken with the salsa and roti
